The photographs show my initial sketches, design ideas and modelling of a water bottle attachment to store mouthguard, contact lenses and energy gels. Product made in silicon would keep them secure, clean and available mid-game and can be personalised to make them fun products for all ages. Photograph shows myself competing in the 2021-2 Ladies British Waterpolo Championships. Design inspired by my own playing experience. The design is I believe a unique product also useable for dry-side sports.
The design brief was to design flexible use furniture which could be used in a community coffee shop for either large group use of the assembled table as a single unit or individual break out tables for solo customer use.
I built the design including the welded frame and used recycled timber for the natural wood table top.
Cut outs were made and the nestling tables built to accompany the table.
A local community coffee shop CLO was happy to have the table trialled in their high-street coffee shop. The table was then set up and used in the local community high-street coffee shop.
Designs established the idea of an expanding tessellated table that incorporates local coffee shop logo, based around coffee bean shape. Inspiration for the interlocking approach also came linked to coffee bean shape.
Telescoping table legs for easy storage, table-top to be made out of recycled pallet wood.
Drawings also show my designs for mugs and jugs. Furniture and tableware used as promotional material with shop logo.
Photographs show my initial exploration of ideas and initial drawings showing use a coffee bean shape to incorporate into table design. I designed a replaceable advertising motif out of waste coffee grounds and Jesmonite which could carry the coffee shop logo and table number.
Product – A level course work product piece.
Table Length 2000mm, width 600mm.
Coffee shops are the location for the greeting and meeting of friends, solo working as well as business meetings.
My brief for the design of multi-use furniture was to support that multi use of the space and resources.
I therefore included in my designs additional items which would use the waste products from the coffee shop and other local materials.
I looked at the design of coffee cups, however that is already a well populated design area. I therefore concentrated on preserving the pleasure of drinking hot or iced coffee.
The coffee shop grinds its own coffee beans for use and sale ethically sourced direct from a cooperative of farmers. A by product of the grinding process is large quantities of coffee "chaff" as well as the more usual coffee grounds.
The chaff is the natural "wrapping" around the coffee bean so was incorporated alongside locally recycled sheep's wool into a "Coffee Quilt".
The coffee quilt enables people to enjoy their coffee piping hot or ice cold no matter how long the length of their meeting, work or chat with friends.
